History

VisionFirst, formerly known as the Indiana Lions Eye Bank, has been serving the community for nearly 50 years. It is the largest eye bank in Indiana and a significant contributor to the field of corneal transplantation, distributing over 2,000 corneas annually.

Services

VisionFirst offers a range of services, including the recovery, screening, and distribution of corneal tissue. They supply tissues for various procedures such as DMEK, DSAEK, and ALK, and provide specialty grafts, including pre-loaded grafts and preserved corneas. The organization also supports research and education, providing tissue for scientific advancements.

Commitment to the Community

In addition to transplantation, VisionFirst runs programs like the Ocular Surgery & Treatment Assistance Program, offering financial aid to Indiana residents without insurance or government assistance. This initiative helps individuals in need of vital surgeries, such as corneal transplants and cataract surgery.
